Do you think that you will be young forever? Yes, I thought so too. Unfortunately, ageing doesn’t work this way. It comes no matter what you are doing. If you are working too many hours and think that you don’t have time to age, it will find you soon or later. One morning you will wake up and you won’t be able to recognise yourself in the mirror. You will have droopy eyelids, wrinkles all over your face and grey hair. This was the moment when I decided that it won’t get better, so I have to change something. I did it. I booked an appointment for a ptosis surgery in Singapore. If you asked me why there I will tell you that Singapore is where most of the best plastic surgeons in the world live and work.
Why I had droopy eyelids?
My parents didn’t have droopy eyelids while I was a proud owner of two. Unfortunately, we can’t control the way we are ageing. Facial muscles work non-stop 24 hours every day. They work when we sleep, talk, read, etc. Most people train their muscles with face exercises but scientists still argue if this is helping or not. However, most women simply know that ageing can’t be stopped but its traces can be improved.
Eyelids move thanks to a muscle called levator. Like other muscles, this one will age eventually, too. Some people are just lucky to have it young for longer. When levator age then he is not able to move properly and drops the eyelid inch after inch. Eventually, your eyelids become an obstacle for your vision and you start to look for a treatment or a permanent solution. Let me save you time – there is no such thing as a permanent solution except the ptosis surgery. Of course, if you are experiencing droopy eyelids at a young age probably you were born this way or you’ve had some trauma recently. But don’t take my word for it – you can read about it straight from the experts at BagsUnderEyesCauses. I’ve learned a lot from their articles and you won’t regret paying them a visit as well.
How doctors treat this condition?
It depends on if the patient is adult or a child. Having a ptosis when you are younger can cause lazy eye or amblyopia. That’s why surgeons recommend children to have a surgery because later eye conditions may occur. If you are adult and you don’t want to have a surgery you still may try some other methods. Unfortunately, my experience shows that surgery is what will bring final results. The surgeon cuts part of the muscle and tightens it. Then the patient has several weeks of recovery and then everything is back to normal.
As you may see, there is no big drama, how people recover from the surgery. It is not a complex surgery but the surgeon should have certain experience how much to reduce the muscle. Patients should have fully functioning eyelids.
Is it possible to prevent it?
No, it’s not. If you have some expectations that your eyelids will become droopy when you start ageing then you should observe them. Unfortunately, as we mentioned above, there is nothing you can do to stop ageing and ptosis is part of it. Thankfully, if you have them, and they don’t prevent your vision, and then you have an only cosmetic problem. Finding a good surgeon should allow you to improve the injustice.
